Lightcatcher is seeking Lead Animators for our “Little Margo Stories” series. We are seeking candidates with mentoring experience in animation and ensuring a smooth pipeline from concept to final output. Strong performance and acting skills are essential, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively to shape character performances.
Responsibilities
- Lead the animation production team by setting and maintaining high standards for quality and output.
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the show’s unique style, ensuring that all animations align with the established artistic vision.
- Execute a diverse range of shots, including those that involve intricate technical challenges or large-scale group and crowd animations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and/or intermediate animators, sharing insights, techniques, and best practices to elevate the team’s overall skill level.
- Expedite the shot approval process by swiftly addressing feedback and minimizing the need for repeated notes.
- Assists the Director in episode preparation. Duties can include providing rig feedback, testing assets, reviewing episode complexity, and supporting team members, etc
- Take a comprehensive view of the animation process to ensure a cohesive, seamless flow across long shots.
Oversee the maintenance of overall series continuity, ensuring a cohesive visual narrative across all episodes. - Uphold a deep understanding of the Little Margo Stories’ animation style, ensuring all animations align with and enhance the established artistic vision.
- Implement and advocate efficient scene organization and workflows to optimize productivity and collaboration within the animation team.
- Oversee and maintain shot continuity, ensuring a consistent visual narrative throughout your shots/sequence that aligns with the surrounding sequences.
- Take proactive measures to efficiently solve problems as they arise, communicating effectively with the production team, rigging, and asset teams, Animation Director, and/or Supervisor when necessary.
Qualifications
- Over 5+ years of experience in 3D animation using MAYA for film and series production.
- A strong background as a Senior/Lead in feature or series with the same kind of animation style as Little Margo Stories.
- Have experience and an interest in cartoony style.
- Ability to work within an established pipeline and learn to use custom tools.
- Ability to understand and interpret a storyboard and the Director’s feedback, and be able to give direction to a team.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-department teams. - Strong understanding of production pipelines and ability to use custom tools.
- Have good teaching skills, be a mentor, and technically and artistically develop the team.
- Ability to work well in a team and excellent communication skills.
Salary
- Salary Range: $2100- $2500CAD per week
